Psalms 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler.” Assuredly no subtle plot shall succeed against one who has the eyes of God watching for his defence. We are foolish and weak as poor little birds, and are very apt to be lured to our destruction by cunning foes, but if we dwell near to God, he will see to it that the most skilful deceiver shall not entrap us.

1. God has the power to deliver from a snare

Peter was delivered from a snare

Acts 12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Psalm 124:7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:

The snare is broken, and we are escaped.

1. God warned the Hebrew children not to follow the heathen they would be a snare.

Deuteronomy 12:30 take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

Proverbs 22:5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: He that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

1. We can be caught in a snare by the works of our our hands

Psalm 9:16 The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth:

The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

1. We can be caught by the snares of the wicked

Psalm 119:110 The wicked have laid a snare for me:

Yet I erred not from thy precepts.

Psalm 69:22 Let their table become a snare before them:

And that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

1. God can lay a snare upon the wicked

Psalm 11:6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone,

And a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
